Family Caregiver & DSP Training Program

Delightsome Care Services is committed to empowering families and supporting individuals with developmental disabilities through person-centered services.

In many cases, parents, guardians, and family members may have the opportunity to become trained and employed as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide approved DDD services for their loved one, in accordance with New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) guidelines and program requirements.

Our agency provides guidance and support throughout the process, including:

• Understanding DDD service options

• Determining eligibility requirements

• DSP onboarding and employment assistance

• Required background screenings

• Orientation and agency training

• College of Direct Support (CDS) training support

• Ongoing supervision and mentorship

• Documentation and service note training

• Compliance with DDD and Medicaid requirements

Family caregivers often have a deep understanding of their loved one's needs, preferences, and goals. Becoming a trained DSP may allow family members to:

• Provide consistent support

• Promote independence and community inclusion

• Help implement ISP goals

• Receive professional training and support

• Earn income while caring for their loved one

Depending on the individual's approved service plan, family DSPs may assist with:

• Community-Based Supports (CBS)

• Community Inclusion Services (CIS)

• Individual Supports (IS)

• Respite Services
